“Not being assaulted is not a privilege to be earned through the judicious application of personal safety strategies. A woman should be able to walk down the street at 4 in the morning in nothing but her socks, blind drunk, without being assaulted, and I, for one, am not going to do anything to imply that she is in any way responsible for her own assault if she fails to Adequately Protect Herself. Men aren’t helpless dick-driven maniacs who can’t help raping a vulnerable woman. It disrespects EVERYONE.”—Emily Nagoski aka my Smith College hero (via peppermintplease)
Today I realized that I am not in any way obligated to keep in contact with people that I don’t want to be around ever again.
I am free.
Those people were shitty to me, and I don’t have to pretend like they weren’t! They were completely incapable of normal human relationships, and I don’t have to attempt to compensate for their less than adequate attempts at friendship! I am perfectly capable of living a happy and fulfilling life without constantly checking to make sure they haven’t accidentally killed themselves recently! I don’t have to beat the dead horse any longer!
Yaaaay for me!!
Man, I am so excited for the rest of my life now. This is awesome.
Fred’s was a hyena, and George’s was a coyote.
When Fred died, George’s Patronus might’ve changed to a Hyena, but he was never able to cast one again - how could he when every happy memory he had involved a dead man?
